Bowman Field...a rich history.

The Bowman Field Aviation and Military Heritage Festival was created to celebrate and promote this community resource, which is a historically significant icon in our city. This annual event is the beginning of a project building towards the 100-Year Anniversary in 2020.

Our mission: to preserve, restore, and improve Bowman Field’s legacy as the longest continually operating commercial airport in US History. The two-day festival will be held in and around the area of the historic Administration Building and the 1929 Curtiss Flying Service Hangar, currently home of Central American Airways. Aviation and Military enthusiasts from around the country will be bringing their vintage aircrafts from the 1920’s through the 1960’s to display and even provide rides for a few lucky patrons.

In addition to the aviation showcase, the Spirit of 45 event has joined forces with Bowman to have historic military equipment, military memorabilia and exhibits for all to see. Bowman Field has such as rich military history, such as the first place to train Flight Nurses during WWII. We want to thank Humana Military for being the 2018 Presenting Sponsor. All Veterans and Active Duty Military are FREE to attend the Bowman Aviation and Military Heritage Festival. Beyond Band of Brothers, the best historic military travel company will be curating historic displays from WWII and more from the same era.

Additional event exciting highlights, learn more about the impact on our bourbon industry and the historic tales from Four Roses Bourbon distillers.   Four Roses tasting times and meet and greets will be posted soon. Enjoy one of Kentucky's oldest bourbons at Bowman!

Bring the entire family! We will have a kids craft corner,  food trucks and community exhibitors.
